Prayer request for December 2018: Please pray for financial donations for the Mission, this month as we help those in need this Christmas Season.

A Word From Our Director ~ Pastor Andrew Pistone

As a child, raised by godly parents in Argentina, my family and I attended a church near our home. The following text was inscribed on the wall behind the pulpit and it was engraved in my young brain:

28 “Venid a mí todos los que estáis trabajados y cargados, y yo os haré descansar. 29 Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas; 30 porque mi yugo es fácil, y ligera mi carga.” Mateo 11:28-30

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

This verse is not difficult to understand, yet it is so profound that it's easy to skip over the depth of what Jesus was saying.  If we are tired and overwhelmed with problems, He is telling us that He can provide rest for us. This is one of many invitations given by our Lord.  He came into the world to invite sinful people unto himself, and to provide eternal life as a free gift – saving us from an eternity of suffering.

Whether you look at the beginning of the New Testament or the end…the message is always the same: the Lord is inviting people to come to Him.

“All you who are weary…” Some scholars say that this refers to all the burdens we take upon ourselves, because we don't humble ourselves to the will of the Lord. He says that we should be anxious for nothing, yet we try to labor through our difficulties on our own.
“And burdened…” This might indicate the burdens that others place upon our lives - such as the burdens imposed by the scribes and the Pharisees in the New Testament. Jesus says in Matthew 23:4

“They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger.”

Little did I know, that - in the latter part of my life – God would have continual opportunities in store…for me to bring this truth, which I learned as a little boy, to so many who are carrying heavy burdens.

It's a privilege to be on the front line - helping, caring, nurturing, loving, and sharing God's truth with all who come through the Door of Hope.
I want you to know that you also are very much involved in this ministry as you pray, love, and share with us whatever God puts in your heart.

At this Christmas season, let's not forget that God Himself - in the person of Jesus – came to earth so that we may have life, and have it more abundantly.
He wants to lift the heavy load that you have been carrying for so long…whatever is making you weary and burdened right now. He can give you peace in this earthly life, and ultimately – you will have life everlasting, if you will only confess your sins to Him and submit your life to Him in obedience.  He is faithful to forgive you and start a relationship with you that will last until the day we come face to face with our Savior, and will continue for eternity.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Pastor Andrew
