A Word From Our Director ~ Pastor Andrew Pistone
At the Mission, we encounter many men and women who feel they have no meaning or purpose in life. Many of them have struggled for years in difficult circumstances and feel that their life is a mess. These circumstances are created in a variety of ways…through their early family environment, bad choices, difficult relationships, and a combination of many other things.
In this world, there are millions who have an outer demeanor which makes them appear to be happy and confident; but – beneath that exterior, they too are suffering from emptiness and loneliness.
Man was created with a yearning that God alone is able to satisfy. John 10:10 says: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” He can give us true joy – no matter what difficult circumstances we have in our lives. God wants us to feel complete, and that can only be achieved through a relationship with Him.
Psalm 16:11 says: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Sometimes we skim over this passage of Scripture without pausing to understand the true meaning of what the psalmist has penned.
Have you experienced a relationship with Him that gives you this type of joy and closeness, and provides the assurance that you will live with Him for eternity?
I encourage you to read your Bible carefully – and tell the Lord in a simple prayer that you want to be obedient to His Word and experience the true joy that only He can give...no matter what challenges you encounter in your life.
Lord, I want more of You each day - because I can't even walk without You holding my hand.
A Word From Our Pastor Michael
In our 6:30 AM devotions, we have been reading through 2 Corinthians. As we read about the "collection for the saints," I had the opportunity to draw a connection between the care and support they provided back then for the saints in Judea and your care and support for the men and women at the Mission. It was a great blessing to see "the light come on” for several of the folks here. Though they knew men and women support the Mission, they never connected it to the Bible and the early church. It gives them a sense of history and tradition and makes the "church" - the body of Christ - much more real to them.
Your support is certainly precious in many ways, but your gifts that we use for teaching and training are especially precious to me. Your gifts have enabled us to begin a structured training process. We begin with THE PURPLE BOOK which teaches the basics of the faith. This lets us get everyone on the "same page” biblically, and provides a solid foundation for growth and future Bible study. It is a twelve week program and has been very well received.
After THE PURPLE BOOK, we move on to a study of 30 LIFE PRINCIPLES which encourages us to be more Christ like. Some of the chapters in the book are: "Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him,” and "An eager anticipation of the Lord's return keeps us living productively." Through scripture reading and answering questions, the men and women are able to make the principles personal and useful.
Your financial support has made it possible for us to take this wonderful step in the ministry of the Mission. From our twice-daily services…to the Wednesday class…to the worship service on Sunday morning…our guests are being trained in the nourishment and admonition of the Lord. You have made this possible and we know the Lord is pleased.
It is such a blessing to see eager faces as we study together. I believe that this structured and progressive program will be a real blessing to our guests as they deal with current challenges and the demons of their past.
Thank you all so very much for your continued, consistent support. In whatever way God is enabling you to support us, you are making a powerful and lasting contribution to the eternity of our guests. May God bless you and strengthen you in His service with us.
